Call Box

The Call Box mode provides a real-world network simulation to allow assessment of real UE end-to-end experience. The Call Box mode supports high-level testing of real UE procedures and applications, and provides functional, RF and performance measurements.

The Call Box mode is intuitive and easy to use, and lends itself to high-speed pass/fail testing and can be used for System test, Regression Test and Service Test.

The BSE (is required for establishing link with UE) provides the following functionality:

·        Ability to configure all required LTE link parameters (some of them are changeable after link to the UE is established).

·        BSE configuration store and recall.

·        Cell activation, deactivation and connection with UE.

Call Box displays radio link status, information and statistics, and performs measurements including:

·        UE Tx parameters

o   Power

o   max

o   min

o   reduction

o   timing

o   control

o   power vs. resource block (requires VSA option)

o   power vs. time slot

o   power vs. channel (requires VSA option)


·        Modulation Quality

o   EVM (Error Vector Magnitude)

o   EVM equalizer flatness

o   In-band emissions (requires VSA option)

o   Carrier Leakage (I/Q origin offset)

o   I/Q phase error

o   I/Q constellation diagram

Frequency error

·        Transmit intermodulation (requires CW option)

·        Output RF Spectrum emissions (requires VSA option)

o   OBW (Occupied Bandwidth)

o   Spectrum Emission mask

o   ACLR (Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio)

o   Spurious emissions

·        UE Rx parameters

o   UL instantaneous throughput ( BLER statistically based)

o   Reference sensitivity

o   Maximum input level

·        Adjacent channel selectivity (requires 2nd RRH option)

·        Blocking characteristics

o   In-band blocking (requires 2nd RRH option)

o   Out-of-band blocking (requires CW option)

o   Narrow band blocking (requires CW option)

o   Spurious response (requires CW option)

o   Wide band intermodulation (requires 2nd RRH and CW options)

Call Box provides access to trace logger, supporting online and offline LTE protocol decoding.

Call Box has ability to operate a specific protocol layer and communicate directly through the Ethernet port with an external UUT. This is especially valuable for someone that develops a specific layer of the protocol in a larger R&D project.

Call Box Upper layer tests support:

·        Data Call: allows transfer bidirectional IP traffic to the UE, and perform different data transfer related measurements:

o   Throughput

o   Jitter

o   Latency

o   Packet lost

·        In this mode the user is able to create simple data traffic like http, ftp, UDP, TCP or different PRBS (to be defined) predefined patterns. Complex traffic which also behaves according to protocol roles is achievable using external application simulation software.

·        Voice call: allows making voice call to UE and send/receive audio data. There is an ability to generate voice streams internally or using external software. Ability to measure voice quality using the usual PESQ, POLQA, etc. methods. Voice can be routed to rear connectors that can be connected to external HATS. Option to work with the 4100/8100 for acoustics test should also been maintained.

·        Video call: allows making a video call to the UE and send/receive video data. There is an ability to generate simple video streams internally or using external software. Ability to measure video quality using common methods. Video can be routed to rear connectors to provide composite video signal.
