European Product Safety Requirements
To ship, move and sell your products across Europe they have to meet the standard requirements under the relevant directive. For most product types the manufacturer may self-declare product conformity with safety standards and directives and must label the product with the CE mark.
This means that unless there is evidence to the contrary, European authorities will assume that a product bearing the CE mark conforms to the requirement of the New Approach Legislation.
On the other hand, in case the European authorities are draws a product while it travels through the European customs and it will be found as non complaint with the European directive requirements, the manufacturer will face high fines and a close gate to the European market.
Hermon Laboratories provides certification under the following European product safety Directives:
- Low Voltage Directive
- Machinery Directive
- Medical Device Directive
Voluntary certification marks such as German GS mark can be also obtained.
US/ Canadian Product Safety Law
In order to install products at the US work place, the product must meet the product-approval requirements of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) under the 29 CFR (Code of Federal Regulation), which is governed by the US Department of Labor. OSHA has a program that allows Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) to provide product safety certification under the US Federal Law. Due to US-Canada mutual recognition agreement, NRTL approval can also cover the Canadian product safety requirements. NRTLs include organizations such as UL, TUV, Intertek, MET labs and CSA.
Hermon Labs cooperates with these leading NRTL bodies and is accredited to carry out Product Safety tests and evaluation for the North American market. NRTL grants its marks based on review and approval of Hermon Laboratories test reports.
Hermon Labs can provide the following NRTL marks:
The application of NRTL mark is conditional to quarterly factory inspections, verifying that no critical changes have been made to the product. Hermon Laboratories can conduct the factory inspection on behalf of NRTLs
